I’m trying to upgrade a site to the latest version of CSM to enable ajax system messages. I have tried your example template code but just get ‘AJAX error - The response was not a valid JSON object.’ returned. I’m not sure if it is a clash with another add-on as I do have User and Carthrob installed but if you could give me any pointers of how to troubleshoot this I’d be most grateful.

OK great, I’ll send it now. I am actually developing the site on a local server so I’ve installed the extension on a very similar environment online which demonstrates the problem.

Looking at the ajax response shows the error: No templates defined for the Custom System Messages extension settings, or the defined templates can not be found.
Looks like you haven’t configured CSM.
