Ticket: Entries returned via relationships fields missing data on publisher enabled entries

Status Resolved
Add-on / Version Publisher Lite 1.5.6
Severity Critical
EE Version 2.7.3

Tomas Jurkevicius

Nov 19, 2014
Hi, I am having an issue where entries linked using (native EE) relationship fields render out empty when both channels for those entries have publisher enabled. For example, ‘about’ page is part of ‘gateway’ channel which has publisher enabled. Gateway channel has ‘example_rel_field’ field which shows entries from ‘Sections’ channel (also has publisher enabled). When rendering data from ‘sections’ gateway, it comes back blank, but only from custom fields (i.e. sections_content).
{example_rel_field}

  {example_rel_field:title} <- will render out correct entry's title
  {example_rel_field:sections_content} <- won't render any data from {sections_content}, which is textarea fieldtype inside sections channel

{/example_rel_field}
Any idea what could be causing this?

Try upgrading to 1.5.8.

Tomas Jurkevicius

Updated and resaved all affected entries, but that didn’t fix it.

Did you resave the entry with the textarea field in it? Or just the entry with the relationship?

#4

Tomas Jurkevicius

Both, entry with relationship field and those that appear in it.

Tomas, sorry for the delay. I haven’t had a chance to look into this yet.

Tomas, I’m unable to replicate this. I’ll need you to setup a clean EE environment with only Publisher installed to replicate the issue (no Stash or anything, just Publisher) before I can look into this further. If the issue persists in that clean environment then we can rule out add-on conflicts, but right now I’m suspecting there is a conflict or a server environment issue.

I have the same problem. No custom fields work. All the other ones (entry_id, title, url_title and even the custom field for the relationship) do work.

{parents field="artwork_tool"}
     {parents:artwork_tool}{entry_id}{/parents:artwork_tool} > relationship works
     {parents:artwork_visual parse="inward"}{url}{/parents:artwork_visual} > assets works
     {parents:artwork_featured} > switch fails
     {parents:artwork_creator} > text fails
     {parents:title} > works
     {parents:url_title} > works
     {parents:entry_id} > works
{/parents}

Both of you have upgraded to 1.5.9 and clicked the run module updates button?

Diederik v Hoorebeke

Yes I did. If you want, I can give you access to the backend. And send you the link to the template with the problem. You can email me at diederik-at-gents.be

Thank you for looking at this!

Thanks for offering access, but I havent been doing that for customers lately. I only do that as a last resort. Have you tried disabling all other addons until it starts working again or creating a new EE instance with only publisher installed to replicate it. If I can’t replicate locally then 9 times out of 10 it’s another addon causing the issue or publisher not working with the other addon, in which case I need you to identify that.

Just an update, I took another look at this and still can’t replicate it. Have you had a chance to do the clean EE install to replicate it?

Closing. Can’t replicate and have not heard a follow up in months.
