Custom System Messages is causing the search in the Discussion Forum Module to time out and have a fatal error.  Any ideas of why this is doing this?

Please provide more info, such as the fatal error message. What action are you taking when the error occurs?

Hello,

Thank you for the quick reply.

I get this error:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 523800 bytes)

I tried both actions 6 & 41 and both do not work. I disabled Custom Messages and the forum search worked again. Also selected Bypass the message template entirely on successful actions? = Yes and that works.

I am currently building a BETA site which can be seen here: http://www.soulstrutbeta.com/forums

I will end up turning it off later today.

Thanks!

Try increasing your memory_limit in php.ini to 150, or even 200 to see what happens.

Bumped it up to 800M. Still getting the fatal error.

Have you tried disabling all other add-ons so CSM is the only one installed to see if the issue still occurs? Backup your database before trying this.

Basically I need to be 100% sure its CSM or at least know what add-on it could be conflicting with before I spend time debugging this, and if I need to debug it I’ll need FTP access b/c it would take time for me to replicate this locally. CSM has been very stable for quite some time now, so it kind of surprises me that this error is cropping up now…. usually when this happens is b/c of another add-on is conflicting somehow.

Thanks for the quick response. I narrowed it down to Solspace SuperSearch as the conflicting module / extension. Actually when I uninstall super search, the entire web site shows the time out error. It’s extremely bizarre. Every thing is OK when I Bypass the message template entirely on successful actions.

This doesn’t surprise me. Many Solspace add-ons implement their own custom template parser and extend the main template parser class… I’ve encountered many errors due to this in the past unrelated to CSM. So if you disable SuperSearch but leave CSM enabled it works fine or the whole site shows a time out error? What happens if you disable both? I’d be surprised if CMS was causing such an error… it would be the first report of such an issue that I can recall.

Alright. I found the real culprit. I had Zoo Visitor enabled but did not install the fields and channels. All works now. I really appreciate your support!
