Ticket: Entry Fields Not Saving

Status Resolved
Add-on / Version Publisher 1.4.2
Severity Blocker
EE Version 2.8.1

Hi,
I’m in a bit of a bind. This issue is for a live Township website. When I go to create a new entry or edit an existing entry, upon saving, the textarea, text and WYGWAM entry fields go blank. When I disable Publisher, it works as expected, saving the field data. In a couple tests, only the first letter entered in the field was saved. But most times it just returns blank fields.

I don’t see any errors in my Javascript Console. I also ran the P&T add-ons update in the Settings. I saw something in the forums about a tmp folder not being writable. Could that be it? If so, where would I find it to check it?

To repeat the steps:
1. Log into the backend and click “Edit.”
2. Click any one of the Calendar:Events items listed near the top. For example, “Ocean Acres Civic Association of Stafford Township.”
3. Enter in information for the “Summary” and “Location.” and press “Publish.”
4. Reopen the Entry to see if the information has saved.
5. Check the front end to see if the entry information is displayed: http://twp.stafford.nj.us/ (In the blue Upcoming Events tab it should have the name of the event followed by the summary information).

Results:
The fields are blank on the Edit Entry page. And, there is nothing displayed on the front end where the summary should be.

The Township needs to add new events and press releases to the site, but are unable to due to this issue. The IT administrator, my contact, has already gotten several complaints from department heads and visitors.

Thanks in advance for your help! I really appreciate it!

Jeff

Can you give me some background… Did you install Publisher on a production site without testing it in development? Is this new behavior? E.g. was it working before then started not saving? If so did you install any other add-ons since installing Publisher? This sounds like an add-on conflict or something else is interfering with Publisher b/c I haven’t had any reports of fields, especially text fields, not saving correctly in quite a long time.

Have you tried disabling other extensions one by one until it starts working again? (Don’t do that in production, test in a development or staging site)

Can you go to the Support page in the Publisher menu and submit the form for me so I can see what is installed on your system etc.

Jeff, can you setup a clean/new EE environment with Publisher installed to see if you can replicate the issue? Or, start disabling other add-ons until it starts working again. Also, the CP login you provided is a redirect loop. Generally I don’t login to sites until we can pin-point where to look, e.g find out what is possibly causing the conflict. I don’t login and do blind checks, especially on a production site.

Jeff, just following up. Is this still an issue?

Closing this b/c there have been no responses after the initial post and it is something I can’t replicate. If this is still an issue feel free to open a new ticket and reference this one. Thanks.
