Ticket: Publisher deletes saved channel image files when publishing draft

Hi Brian

You helped me with a bit of an issue last week (support ticket 604)
I have upgraded to the latest version of Publisher Lite 1.0.7 and find that when I publish a draft entry the system is dropping any images contained in the Channel images field.

This was previously working ok.

Thanks,

Allison

Its in a Safecracker form, right? Do the images not save at all or are they saving and visible in the CP, just not the front-end? What version were you on before 1.0.7?

Publisher is unaware of the Channel Images add-on, so I’m not sure what has changed recently that would have caused a sudden change.

Hi Brian I think I was on version 0.8 (or something like that!) The images are uploading via safecracker ok and saving to the CP. They are visible when published and everything looks ok. It just seems to be when the main member profile is updated that the previously saved images are being dropped. If you remember the image update is on a separate template (home/managephotos) than the main profile update (home/update_profile). In fact, now that I look closer, not only is the Main profile page dropping the images in the CP it is also no longer saving any profile updates as a draft. I have made no recent changes to the template so I’m not sure what else might be causing the error.

Thanks,

Allison

Make sure you’re using the latest version of Channel Images too. I know they added Publisher support recently.

Hi I upgraded channel images to the latest version and I am still having major issues.

If you login on the front end as donald@test.com / password

Go to - Manage my photos and upload a test image. Then approve it via the CP Then go to Update my profile and change some info on the profile and submit It looks like the draft is now going live (check the who’s online link to see the profile) BUT if you then go to the profile via the CP and publish the draft it reverts back to the older version!!! Help!!

It looks like you have a stray row in the table without a status. https://www.evernote.com/shard/s9/sh/a3c4b761-307a-46c4-a7f8-6b3873a8b28f/61fe7a6a45af9f9fcb1bfd81d95073bf

Not sure how that got there, but I haven’t seen a similar bug in quite some time, so maybe since you were on an older version for so long it could have been an artifact of an old bug? Just run the following queries to fix this entry. If you see this happen again just run the query in the screenshot and see if a similar row exists, and if so let me know.

delete from exp_publisher_titles where id = 24 delete from exp_publisher_data where id = 24

Give it a try now. I changed 1 word in the code and it appears to be working now.

Noting for searching reference: Images were in the Channel Images module, which I believe is the issue. Publisher is unaware of Channel Images, Dev Demon added Publisher support to CI.
