Ticket: Deny approval option not apppearing for Publishers

EE Version 24

For a channel that uses the Pages module, we’re not seeing any option that allows publishers to deny a submitted draft. The toolbar that appears at the top of the publish form looks no different for editors and publishers, minus the activation of the “Save as:” select with the Published option. Thus, they can publish the entry, but there’s nothing related to “deny” the draft. The docs and settings reference a modal window where a message can be sent to the editor? Perhaps a setting is not correctly set.

Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks!

Nick, I tried sending you an email at the one listed on the ticket, but it got kicked back. Send me an email at support at boldminded dot com if you have another address I can send you a new build to.

1.0.3 build received and installed, but I’m not noticing any changes.

Did you follow the instructions for the log.txt file? I need to see what the variables are set to so I can determine why the button isn’t displaying.

I just installed a base EE install (2.5.5), along with Publisher, and I’m now seeing a “delete draft” button and the “deny approval” button. A few other differences I’m noticing:

  1. Upon install, I received the following error, https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17213283/publisher-install-error.png

  2. There’s now a “draft” option in my status drop-down. This is not the case on my original site. This was not added when I installed the add-on previously.

  3. The send for approval works just fine (email received), however clicking “deny approval” opens a modal window, where upon entering a quick line of copy, the screen just sits on a continuous load bar. I have to cancel to escape. At this point, no email is sent and the page is still as it was prior to clicking.

Still going through details, but just a quick update.

Yes, sending now.

Actually, it looks like it’s not creating this log.txt file for me. I’ve tried appending just the debug status, and in addition to the draft status. Same issue on both my original site and this barebones install. Folder permissions are writeable. “ee_version” is the only folder appearing.

I’ve now re-installed Publisher on my original site using 1.0.3 (as oppose to just upgrading files).

  1. I received the same install errors as above.
  2. Buttons are now appearing, though the deny approval is still stalling in the same state.
  3. publisher_debug is still not creating a log.txt file for me.

Update on “deny” button..Logged in as Super Admin, I am able to successfully send deny approval email.

This issue with the buttons was resolved by providing the publisher member group with access to the publisher module.
