Feb 03, 2013This is something we’ve resolved by reverting the upgrade, but it seems that upgrading 0.96 => 0.97.6 stops all images in non-English languages from showing up.
So, in 0.96, images in the English version of the site work just fine, as do those in FR, DE, JP, CN etc.
After the upgrade, the default language (English) ones still work fine, but in all other languages, the images aren’t pulled in. So the French content will be displayed as you’d expect, but all images will have disappeared. Publisher won’t read the images from the English entries and pull these in.
I suspect this is an issue with the fallback Publisher has, which aims to look for content from the default language when in Development mode. Might be the case that all the text on the site is translated, so is pulled in correctly, but it has problems with the missing images.
As I say, all fixed now, with a simple revert of the upgrade, but it’s something I figured you’d want to know! We’ll hold off upgrading for now, but it’d be useful to know if this is a known issue.

Can you provide more information… are you using an File field, WYSIWYG, native File Manager etc?

Hey Brian - sorry to leave you hanging on that one.
I tried the patch and it had no effect. However, I neglected to let you know about something which is perhaps more important - all the missing images are stored in Matrix fieldtypes Ii.e. a matrix field for all of the images attached to a specific product, and a matrix to allow the user to upload a set of images in a slideshow on the homepage.
As I say - works perfectly in 0.96 so unless you can recreate and patch it, we’re happy to stick with this - not a dealbreaker/urgent issue at the moment, but something I wanted to flag up for you.

Jon, I’ve got a File field as a normal field type, and inside a Matrix and the images are working in all languages. This is in my local 0.98 build, so I’m going to mark this resolved for now and when/if you upgrade and this happens again just open a new ticket and reference this one. Thanks!
