after new installation following error appears on editing an entry:

The whole page bombs.

That looks like an issue with your Publish Layouts, not the add-on. Try re-saving your publish layout or deleting it and re-creating it.

Sorry. Perhaps my last sentence was misleading.
The editing page is damaged after this error message.
The error occurs on editing any entry.
Reinstallation of the sitemap add-on doesn’t change anything.
If I uninstall it, editing works.
Layout is fine.

You provided a link to a CP page but didn’t provide a user/pass to login.
You say the layout is fine… is it fine when you un-install Sitemap? If so that makes sense. Did you try re-saving the layout or delete the layout and re-create it once Sitemap is installed?
