Ticket: Grid field data is being deleted/emptied out when running an import to update one field

Jun 24, 2022I am having a strange issue with DataGrab 4.0.4 where it is emptying grid fields/deleting the data for channel entries even though I am not setting the fields to be updated for a particular import. I created an import to update just one field for all the entries. I have left all of the grid fields untouched in the DataGrab import configuration, yet it is deleting all of the data in them for each entry.

This was fixed in 4.0.3. Did you try to create new import to make sure the settings were correct?

I tried to replicate this locally and could not. I have 2 imports configured the same. One is set to delete existing Grid rows, the other ignores the Grid fields entirely, and during neither import are the Grid rows deleted.
This is the config for the import that ignores the Grid fields.

I’ve tested this several more times over the weekend and I am still having the same issue. Is there any other info I can provide you to help track down what is causing this?

Brian, thank you for providing that new build. It fixed the issues I was having! I have tested it extensively and I am no longer experiencing any of my grid fields being emptied out.
When will this be pushed to a new release? In the meantime, is this build you provided okay to use in production? I am on a bit of a deadline for a client and it will be nice to be able to use this for confidently importing large amounts of data again.

Yeah that build is fine for production, it’s just a early build of the next version that’ll be released.
