Description:

Tested using a fresh install of EE4.3.3, and Publisher 2.8.3 direct from Boldminded. When bulk editing posts, the bulk edit overrides the entry content for translated or non translated entries, i.e. in this case, 5 entries in a news channel, 4 are English, 1 is in both English & Irish. Upon completing the bulk edit, with Persistent Entries turned on, they now all have an Irish translation page available, and the one that did have the translation now has English in both.

If I turn Persistent Entries off, it wipes the title, but not the rich text field in my demo.

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue:
1. Setup fresh EE4 install
2. Add some basic channel / field setup etc..
3. Populate the entries with some base English content
4. Install Publisher
5. Set some basic settings (add second language, turn off persistent grid fields, and persistent relationships, enable url translations, add url prefix, add url prefix to homepage.)
6. Go to channel, add Irish version of entry.
7. Verify that all appears to be working correctly on front end.
8. Go to channel listing (e.g. Edit -> News)
9. Select multiple entries, including some with no translation, and the one with a translation
10. Using the dropdown at the bottom of the list, select “Bulk Edit”, then click Submit
11.  You’ll see the list of selected entries on the left, and the dropdown for editable fields to the right. Use the dropdown to select the first field “Status”.
12. Change the status to “Published”.
13. Check the entry and observe that the translated title has been wiped, if not using persistent entries, or everything has been wiped if using persistent entries, and by wiped I mean it’s using the default entry content.

Also, I’ve been able to replicate this a couple of times, I mentioned this in the following ticket: https://boldminded.com/support/ticket/1809

In that ticket, you said the site you tested on was fine. Did that have the same version of Publisher?

6. Go to channel, add Irish version of entry. 7. Verify that all appears to be working correctly on front end. 8. Go to channel listing (e.g. Edit -> News)

After #6, you’re probably stuck in Irish as the CP language, thus the bulk edit is performing changes in Irish. Try switching back to English, then go to the Edit > News lsiting and seeing what happens when you bulk edit.

Thanks for your help, I can confirm that if you make sure the CP is in the default language, i.e. English in this case, and then run the bulk edit.

Those issues seem to go away. It won’t solve my initial issue (requiring the manual republishing of Irish entries), but bulk edit does indeed work when in the default language.

Marking as resolved.

Cool, thanks for verifying. I re-opened this b/c it may be a good idea to force the default language when saving bulk entries.

Aaron, I’m going to send you a new build later today to test the bulk editing.
