Hello, I get some errors after trying to update.

Why are you uninstalling as part of the update?

#2

BoldMinded (Brian)

Please respond via the website, not the email directly. Thanks.

Uninstalling and re-installing will delete all your translated data and drafts. I don’t know if that is acceptable, but usually that isn’t the desired outcome.

It looks like you’re still running EE 2.9.2. The latest is 2.11.9. I would suggest upgrading EE first.

Publisher for EE 2 is technically no longer supported. So for me to look into this issue you will need to upgrade to the latest version of EE 2.

I’m running a site using EE 2.11.9 and Publisher 2 and not experiencing this issue, so I’d suggest upgrading. 2.9 to 2.11 is not that big of a jump. No custom add-ons should be written specific enough for those versions… not enough of EE’s core was changed between those versions to make upgrading difficult.

Hi Brian, EE2 was succesfully updated to 2.11.9 but the problem with Publisher still persist.

What version of PHP are you using? Has anything changed recently in your environment? What was the previous version of Publisher you had installed? I’m confused on why this error is suddenly happening b/c that file has not been changed in months, or closer to a year or more, so this shouldn’t be a new thing that is suddenly happening.

I’m currently deploying to the staging server. Soon you will get to see the problem I believe.

Try adding this line and see what happens.

ee()->load->library('Publisher/helpers/Publisher_helper_cp');

Are you positive you’ve uploaded all of the files?

#11

BoldMinded (Brian)

Can you provide FTP access?

An SFTP connection would be fine. Just make sure its not the root account and the user can read/write to files within the site.

Ok Brian. I just created a user named Brian with the same above password with SFTP access and ROOT privileges. Please keep things in folder /home/patters/domains/bgs.patterns.digital

#21

BoldMinded (Brian)

Ok, logged in with that account. What is the full path from root? Usually this stuff is in /var, but not seeing it.

#22

BoldMinded (Brian)

Nevermind, didn’t see the last line of your last comment. Sorry.

Oh geez, now I can’t login to the CP. The login page loads, but as soon as I submit it with the info you provided in the ticket the browser just spins. I Tested in Chrome and Safari.

Sorry for the confusion. I announced some time ago that it was no longer supported, however, some people still wanted to use the latest version, which is why the renewal was in place, which was pay for the new features or bug fixes that had been incorporated into the software since they last upgraded. In some cases people were upgrading from 1.5 or 1.6 to 1.7.5, which is quite a jump. The renewal paid for that work to be done and they benefit from it. I agree I could have added better messaging around this on the site when in the shopping cart. I’ve actually disabled the option to purchase renewals entirely given that its nearly 9 months since support ended. If you can do what I asked about setting up a new environment, and if I do need to charge an hourly rate then I’ll subtract the upgrade cost that you’ve already paid from that.
