Ticket: Pre-exisiting entries’ (created prior to Publisher installation) Draft/Publish status

Hi,

When editing an pre-existing published entry that doesn’t have a draft (the entry was created prior to Publisher installation), the system shows the entry as draft (when intuitively it is the published version, as there is no draft). This occurs despite the “Default view state” being set to “Open”.

Saving as draft returns to the draft entry but still doesn’t give the option to view the published entry.

The upshot is that before being able the publisher draft functionality effectively, the admin user has to go through and save every existing entry as Published - is this correct?

No, it should be seeing all existing entries as published and draft. If you look at the publisher_titles and publisher_data tables you should see 2 rows for each entry (if you have 1 language), one for draft and one for open. Do you only see 1 row?

Thanks Brian,

It doesn’t look like any of the pre-existing entries are coming into publisher. There are 119 entries in the site, but only 6 rows in each of publisher_titles and publisher_data tables - 2 for each of the entries that I manually saved as “published” during my testing of the plugin - none of the others have come through.

Just to confirm this, I tested another couple of pre-existing entries: saving as draft adds just the 1 “draft” row to each of those tables. Saving that same entry as “Published” then adds the second row - “open” status. saving straight to “Published” adds both rows at once.

When did you download the zip file?

I found a small bug that could have stopped the installation to not finish and uploaded 2.4.2. I took another look at the code and it should not create any draft rows in publisher_titles/data upon install, it should create only 1 row, which is open. Basically it copies entries from channel_titles/data to the publisher_titles/data tables. If you un-install and re-install with 2.4.2 is that what you’re seeing?

Yep, 2.4.2 shows this behaviour - each entry brought in as single open row.

This makes more sense and has resolved the original issue as far as I’m concerned.

Thanks for your help.
