Ticket: Previews not showing

Status Resolved
Add-on / Version Publisher 1.6.11
Severity
EE Version v2.10.2

Chris Cox

Apr 07, 2017

Description:
When saving a draft the previews are not showing properly. The window loads but it just shows a white screen.

If I try and access a preview link directly (either by pasting into the address bar, or by clicking the link from a notification email) it just sits there trying to load the page but nothing appears. Strangely it doesn’t seem to time out either and just keeps loading.

I have checked the accessory and this is installed and allocated to all relevant users.

I do have Structure installed.

Try upgrading to the latest version. You’re quite behind if you’re on 1.6.11.

Also, is this something that has worked in the past but suddenly stopped working? If so, what has changed?

Does it happen when saving a new entry, or re-saving an existing entry?

Do you have {publisher:entry_status} in your status parameter? (see bottom of http://docs.boldminded.com/publisher/drafts-workflow)

You said Structure is installed, so this happens on a Structure page? Or is it happening on a non-Structure page? If that is the case did you define Preview Templates in the settings?

That looks like a php error or the template can’t find the entry. In either case you need to do some debugging to find out which. https://boldminded.com/white-screen

Also see questions in my previous comment.

Also, please respond in the tickets not directly via email. My inbox is not searchable for other customers who may have the same issue. Thanks.

Ok, thanks Brian. We will have a look at the debugging.

Adding the debug lines didn’t help us I’m afraid.

When doing this locally in MAMP, we first got this error: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nccvjha5bfrka5p/Screenshot 2017-04-07 17.05.16.png?dl=0

We then turned off Xdebug in MAMP and now get this error: https://www.dropbox.com/s/r8eedkl5t56feyb/Screenshot 2017-04-07 17.10.06.png?dl=0

Something we have noticed is that publishing works fine both on the cPanel server and locally in MAMP (PHP 5.4), but saving as draft is where we’re having issues.

On cPanel, it just gives us a white preview and the page takes ages to load. And in MAMP, we get that Internal Server error.
