Ticket: CSM API Changed?

Status Resolved
Add-on / Version Custom System Messages
Severity Blocker
EE Version 24

It seems like CSM has gone through some major updates since the docs were put together and I can’t seem to make heads or tails of it. I am trying to implement the example you provide for the login form and when an error occurs, nothing is coming back, so the message is never displayed.

The example shows a “csm:” prefix on the variables, but the docs don’t include that. And looking through the actual code for the extension, I’m having a hard time figuring out where those variables are even set to figure out which is correct. And then I looked at the plugin (which is not documented anywhere) and I can’t figure out if that’s what I need to use now or not. I would prefer not to have to use JS to render system errors as it seems unnecessary and doesn’t follow the idea of progressive enhancement.

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated (as would updated Docs).

If you need access to my install, let me know. I am working locally, but can use PageKite to get you access temporarily.

Cheers,

Aaron

Hi Aaron. Not much has changed in terms of the variables used. What does your settings page look like? What about your current template? Did you see the Examples page? http://boldminded.com/add-ons/csm/example

The plugin has been deprecated. I’m not officially supporting that anymore b/c it is only for the ajax functionality, which turns out to be spotty at best due to how EE handles error messages, and the lack of handling ajax form submissions.

Closing b/c I have not heard back. If you need anything else just open a new ticket.
