Ticket: Unusual Blueprints behavior.  Layouts are not being saved globally, but per channel?

This has a been a problem bothering me for some time.

I use Structure with a lot of listings under many different parent pages.  All my listings have the same assigned template in Structure.
I’ll create my layout and save it under a Blueprints layout but it only applies to that listing.  All the other listings, which use the same template, do not load the blueprints layout.  Sometimes, if I push the “load layout” button repeatedly it might load, but most often it just loads all of the channel fields. So my pages have a bunch of different Blueprint layouts even though they’re assigned the same bp layout.

Does that make sense?

Usually, I end up having to clear out my exp_layouts table and start over, that tends to work until the next time I save a Blueprints layout.

Hello there. I sort of understand what you’re saying, but not completely. Would you be able to edit this ticket and give me CP access so I can take a look? Also point me to the channel and some of the entries that are working and some that are not working.

Edit the ticket and you’ll see the fields for the CP credentials, I’m the only one who will see it and when the ticket is closed it’ll be deleted from the DB.

Thanks for the info, will take a look at it in the next day or so.

Sorry for the delay, I have edited the ticket with the admin info.

A good way to replicate my issue: 1) Create an entry for a blog listing under Children’s Ministry 2) Modify the Layout and save it under the “Blog Entry” bp layout 3) Create a new entry for a blog listing under Music and the Arts 4) Try and load the “Blog Entry” layout - it won’t load what was saved during step 2

Isn’t Blueprints supposed to save a single layout for any defined layout?
Please let me know what you find, thanks.

It looks like Children’s Ministry and Music and the Arts Ministry Blog are using 2 different field groups. If both channels use the same field group, then the layout will be saved for each of them. Since you have so many channels Blueprints will automatically find channels that share the same field group and should copy the layout to that channel as well so you don’t have to recreate it.

Almost all the listings under each ministry use the same field group “Global Entry Generic Fields”

Those two specifically definitely have the same field group but will not load the same Blueprints layout.

You can even try saving the layout on the individual ministry pages (Children’s Blog vs Music Blog), which both use the same field group as well (“Global Page fields”).

I am still having this issue.

Can you check my plugins and see if there might be any conflicts?

#8

BoldMinded (Brian)

I cant go through all your add-ons for conflicts. Have you tried to replicate this in a new environment?

Closing this ticket, I don’t have the information I need to debug the ticket and I can’t debug other add-ons.

I’m sorry I haven’t had enough time to try things in a new environment.

Also, I’m not asking you to debug other addons - I’m asking for you to just look at some of the plugins I use to see if any of them might possibly be conflicting. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect some cross compatibility with other plugins.

I still constantly see this issue and it is easily reproduced using the steps I originally detailed above. I believe it might have something to do with MX Title. For the time being I will have to remove your access to the development server as I have other users actively working in it.

I will leave this issue resolved until I have time to investigate some more.

I can look into it again when you have a more simple environment setup. I can debug conflicts with specific add-ons, but I can’t just do a general sweep… thats not my responsibility. It would take way too much time on my part. If you can narrow it down to an add-on or two (which it looks like you have) then I can look into conflicts with them specifically. I hope you can understand this.

Just to be sure, you are running the latest version, right? I uploaded a new version last week.
