Ticket: Using the relationship field inline editing doesn’t save new content

If I have 2 channels ... Pages and Section ... both are managed by Publisher.

Pages has a relationship field that allows you to select one or more Section entries. As part of EE7, you can now click the edit button to edit a related entry (via a popup/flyout form) directly in the main entry you are editing.

When editing the related entry via this method, it does not save the new content at all. If I save the Section entry in it’s own editing form, then it works fine.

Just to note, if I set the Section channel to be ‘ignored’ by Publisher, then the related entries save correctly when using it via the inline editing form.

Hope that this makes sense.

Cheers.

Can you share screenshots or a video to help illustrate the issue?

Thanks for that video. I did a quick test yesterday and it seemed to work fine for the Title field, but what you’re illustrating is for a custom text field. I’ll try to take another look at this when I can find some time. It may be related to the toolbar in the slide out not getting instantiated correctly. In fact that toolbar should probably be hidden b/c if you change the View status in the slide out it might end up redirecting the parent window, which is an undesirable action at that point.

Hey Brian,

Just had a chance to review this new build, and it works great! I’ve tried it with all the ‘ignores’ turned off, and it seems to save everything fine.

Also, I’m assuming that this version includes the Publisher_structure_hooks updates? If so, they also work great! I’ve not had a chance to install the build from that ticket … but from a quick look, it appears you have them in this build as well.

Cheers!

I think this version is slightly newer and does include the structure hook updates too.

Glad to hear it’s working again 😊
