Ticket: Is it possible to prevent / remove translations of url_title?

Not sure how or why it happened, but it seems that some (but not all) of the url_title fields in our site have been translated (so for example /afiliados is changed to /affiliates ) and this in turn causes site to break (and client is determined that site URLs should be in that case /en/afiliados rather than /en/affiliates) and is tedious to fix (as now have to visit every entry and view each in every language to weed out the ones that have been translated).

I had a look in Publisher settings and cannot find the setting that disables this - nor any way to exclude the url_title field from being translated: there may well be both but I was unable to find them if so.

Grateful for any guidance you can give on how to a) resolve this and b) prevent it happening on future entries as they are entered.

Thanks!

This would have to be a configurable setting. I’m tempted to just piggy back off of Publisher’s URL Translation feature, and if that is enabled, the URL Title field will get translated. If it’s not enabled, then it won’t get translated. What is your Publisher > URL Translation setting set to?

It might be easier to update the DB directly if you need to make sweeping changes to the URL Title, but you’ll have to update the exp_publisher_titles and maybe exp_channel_titles tables accordingly.

Setting - URL Translations are disabled.

I manually reset the url_title fields to the setting used for the default language version of entries that had multiple translations, which appears to have fixed the immediated issue (though it did mean reviewing about 1000 records :( ).

Having the option to disable this to prevent it happening on future entries would be helpful.

Thats why the new build won’t translate that field if the URL Translation setting is disabled. Not sure this calls for a new/separate configuration option though.

The changes in 3.8.0 have done the trick. Thanks!
