Jun 24, 2022I was hoping that there would be a way for channel entry imports (CSV formatted) that allows for me to specify for an entry’s categories, but also sub-categories. So, say I have categories established like so, so parents and their children (these are industries for the Product channel):
RV
- Indoor lighting
- External lighting
Marine
- Internal lighting
- Accessories
Automotive
- Headlights
- Interior lights
If I wanted to run a DataGrab import of channel entries, how would I go about formatting a ‘Categories’ column to establish parent and children categories? Is that possible?

So you’re importing brand new categories that do not yet exist in EE, and you need to create the parent/child relationship of new categories?

This is a part of the codebase I’m not as familiar with since acquiring DataGrab, but it looks like the / can be used as a delimiter to separate parent/child categories, so
parent_id/child_id,parent_id/child_id

It may be some time before I can test, but will get back to you on this. Thanks!
