Ticket: Upgrade Grid/Relationship issue

Status Resolved
Add-on / Version Publisher 3.1.5
Severity
EE Version 5.3.0

I recently upgraded from Publisher 2.11.1 to 3.1.5 and as it looked like everything was fine. But upon changing a Grid field with a relationship, the relationship field would not save/update. I’ve tried on a number of test entries and have been able to save the relationship field on the primary language, but if I change it, it seem to break it going forward, not allowing you to change/save relationship. There are no errors at all, it registers and a successful entry save. Thank you!!

Please let me know if you need more. Sorry, but there is not dev server. If it get’s to that point, I’ll spin one up.

Here are a few more specifics:
- Data seemed to come over fine after upgrade
- Data loss is on Relationship field in Grid fields. (multiple)
- Data loss occurs after saving entry
- After data loss, you can’t save the relationship field at all
- I’ve tried with persistence on and off

Please let me know if you need more info! Thank you!
Jim

Hi, Erik. Can you provide more information… screenshots and/or a video illustrating the issue so I have a clear picture of what is happening? I’m not really able to follow what you’re describing.

Also include screenshots of your Publisher settings pages, specifically regarding the Grid and Relationship persistence settings. There is a lot to unpack here, so the more information I have about what your Publisher settings are, and what exactly you’re doing, the better I can help.

Erik, can you record a video of the behavior, it will illustrate the issue better. Thanks.

Also, can you review this ticket, including the videos in it, and see if it sounds like a similar issue? https://boldminded.com/support/ticket/2004

Here you go! It’s similar, but it’s really only that it’s not re-saving the data.

So it looks like the Kit List grid field saved correctly in French, but the Page Blocks grid field did not save correctly in English?

Can you do some digging in your database to see if the rows are created and contain the same value? Find in the exp_publisher_relationships table where the parent_id column value is the entry_id of the parent page, in this case 290, and see if there is a row for each of the Kit List and Page Blocks fields where the child_id column matches the entries you’re trying to related. (share a screenshot)

It looks like it’s only saving the Kit Lists field. I see that in the DB exp_publisher_data_field_201 (which is the Page Blocks field) is showing that there is date related to that entry. But it’s not in the publisher_relationships row. (see updated screenshots)

It’s weird that one field is saving and the other is not. Have you double checked your Ignore Fields setting to make sure the Page Blocks field isn’t ignored?

Erik, I was able to replicate this locally. It appears to be happening when there is more than 1 Grid field on the page that contain a Relationship field. Due to the nature of this issue I’m not sure how long it’ll take to fix. Historically supporting Grid fields that contain other field types, especially complicated ones like Relationship, have been the most challenging aspect of Publisher.

Thank you! I’m going to test it locally and I will follow-up!

Ok, I think I know what it is now and would love to hear your thoughts!8 Everything saves fine IF THERE ARE NO CHANNEL IMAGES set. Please see video:

Did you test the build in my previous comment? If so what was the result?

#14

BoldMinded (Brian)

Closing this ticket b/c I’m pretty sure my latest build fixes the issue.

It was the build I posted in comment #10. The 3.2.1 release includes the fix.
