Ticket: Publisher loading settings and languages very slowly

Hi Brian,
On our larg-ish MSM/Publisher site we are experiencing very slow loading (60+ seconds) of both the Publisher settings screens and any of the Entries with languages available.

To reproduce, simply login to the installation and navigate to Developer > Add-ons > Publisher.

What’s the best way to troubleshoot this?

I tried to Publisher > Utilities > Database Cleanup, but it reported nothing was out of sync.

The rest of the Control Panel seems to be unaffected. I included login credentials for the staging site as the issue is affecting all instances of the site.

Any advice would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Greg

I disabled version fetching which is when Publisher fetches an xml file from my site, but that didn’t change anything. The page doesn’t show any slow queries or heavy memory usage, so I’m not sure what it could be. Its really hard to tell without being able to step debug it. Have you ever tried installing anything like New Relic to see if it spots bottlenecks?

I just requested New Relic be installed on the server. Once it is, and configured, is there specific info I can share that will help identify if it’s Publisher or not?

Thanks, Brian!

NR is pretty good at showing the bottle necks. Just load one of the Publisher pages and NR should show graphs with all the functions called and which ones took the longest.

I did have a good 4th, thanks. Hope you did too!

I haven’t logged into NR in a long time, but usually it’ll have a report for each requested url, so you should see a request to something like settings/publisher/whatever, then within there it shows the logs. I’ve never tried to invite anyone to look at a report, but if it allows you just invite litzinger@gmail.com and I can take a look at it.

Hi Brian, This is all sorted out. We were missing some folders in the themes directory that seemed to be causing some issues.

So, for the record, user error!

Thanks as always for the excellent support!
