Hi, Henrik. Do images preview correctly when Publisher is un-installed? (backup your db first). I want to be 100% certain this is a Publisher issue, and not potentially an issue with Assets/Grid/Live Preview.

Thx for answer. Yes, the images display correctly when I uninstall (have done it several times already). What do you mean with Live Preview? You mean Livelook? This is EE3 😊

I have tested to use EE File instead of Assets, but the same thing happens – no images show up. In the same channel, I have fields with Assets standalone – they work fine in Draft mode. So… I guess something is wrong with Grid?

Can you record a screen cast of your issue so I can see exactly what you’re seeing? I didn’t notice you’re still using EE3, so I assumed you were talking about Live Preview. Are you using Livelook?

#5

Henrik Eklund

No, I’m not using Living Look, although I activated Live Look because I was unsure if you meant LiveLook instead of LivePreview… nevermind 😊 I’ll get back to you with a screen cast.

Henrik, thanks for the video. It definitely cleared things up. I understand the situation now. Unfortunately I’ve been sick for the last few days so I’m trying to catch up on things and it may be a couple days or more before I can look into this.

Notes to self: Something odd is happening when saving as a draft. In ft.assets.php->grid_post_save() $this->settings[‘grid_row_id’] is not set when saving as a draft, but has the correct row value when saving as open/published. The odd thing is no Publisher code is called prior to this, so I’m unsure why grid_row_id is non-existent at this point.

This issue is particularly puzzling and may take some time to figure out. I’m not sure if its a new issue or if its always been this way, but I have a feeling its a new issue.

Henrik, I believe this issue is related to https://boldminded.com/support/ticket/1762 - See my comment at the end of that thread.

Ok, so you mean it might be caused by the text fields in Grid? I tried to remove all text fields in the Grid field ie only two Assets fields left. But the same problem happens, no images show up in Draft mode. Maybe I misunderstand you?

I did a quick test and it seems to work like a charm 😊

Cool, going to close this and get these changes into the next release. Thanks for testing. If anything else odd comes up just let me know.
