Ticket: Relationships not saving to drafts

Status Resolved
Add-on / Version Publisher 2.7.6
Severity
EE Version 4.0.7

Description: When saving a draft entry, new relationships (single or multiple) are not saving. All other fields are saving as expected.

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue:
1. Open an entry which has a relationship field.
2. Add/remove relationships from any relationship field.
3. Save as a draft.

This goes for creating new entries and editing existing entries. I tried this on three different channels in my install, each with a different combination of fieldtypes. None would save the relationship changes as drafts. If I save an entry as published, the relationship changes take.

If I look in exp_publisher_relationships, the rows are all there, with correct parent_id, child_id, and field_id values for the relevant draft entries..

I’m using only one language.

Those fields are not inside of Bloqs or Grid? I just tested saving an entry as draft with 2 Relationship fields and they saved fine.

OK, just downloaded the build and updated - no change unfortunately. I also created a brand new channel with only a title and a single relationship field - the field won’t save drafts.

How else can I troubleshoot this?

Try un-installing Publisher then re-installing so its using its default settings and see if it still happens. Backup your DB before you do that.

Just did this now - the issue persists.

Can you replicate this on demo.boldminded.com?

I can - if I go to a Pages entry and try to add relationships in the Featured field, they do not stick to a draft.

I actually see a different behavior. Its saving twice the number of rows to the database than it should be. Saving as open or draft. I rolled back to 2.7.3 and it was still happening. I’ll try this in an EE3 environment this weekend to see if its specific to EE4.

What other add-ons do you have installed?

That looks to have done the trick!

Excellent! Glad it was an easy fix 😊
