Ticket: Chrome Issue when changing pages via {translated_url}

Status Resolved
Add-on / Version Publisher 2.6.5
Severity
EE Version 3.5.11

Kevin Chatel

Nov 01, 2017

Description:

*Note*: This seems to only happen in chrome.

When switching languages via {translated_url} or manually typing the URL of the translated url in the browser, the browser (Chrome Version 62.0.3202.75 (Official Build) (64-bit)) throws an error ‘redirected you too many times’ & then after 2 seconds it redirects me properly to the page.

This doesn’t seem to be an issue in any other browser.

This was tested on Version 62.0.3202.75 (Official Build) (64-bit) as well as 61.0.3163.100 (Official Build) (64-bit)

This happens in both normal chrome & incognito, although, when navigating the site with ‘disable cache’ on the network tab of Google Chrome, this doesn’t seem to be an issue which leads me to believe it has something to do with cookies/cache.

This was not an issue in Publisher 2.6.4

Htaccess has nothing special done to it other than the regular ‘hiding of the index.php file’

This was tested on multiple computers, with the same results.

Other browsers don’t seem to have this issue.

“This was not an issue in Publisher 2.6.4” - If you downgrade to 2.6.4 it magically stops doing this? If thats the case at least this gives me a range of code changes to look at.

Couple more questions…

Do you have the Force Default Language (CP) option set to yes?

Did you test this behavior at multiple different urls of your site or just the one?

Downgraded to 2.6.4 & this issue is still there. I was wrong about that point.

Force Default Language (CP) option is set to ‘No’

Did you test this behavior at multiple different urls of your site or just the one? This happens on all links, when going from French content (not default) to English content (Default)

Do you know what previous versions you’ve had installed?

Kevin, any updates on this? I’m going to close this if I don’t hear back.
