Ticket: Relationship fields don’t work anymore

Status Resolved
Add-on / Version Publisher Lite 2.6.3
Severity
EE Version 3.5.11

Description:
When you add a relationship field, and try to fill it in the entry. It looks like it is working. So I add 4 related entries, I press “SAVE” and *poof* no related entries anymore. They all get removed from related.

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue:
1. Add entries in the related channel
2. Add some entries from the related channel to make them related to the entry you are editing.
3. Press “SAVE”
4. Watch the dark magic happen

Can you provide more info please…

Is the rel field in a grid or Bloqs field?

What is the status of the entry when editing it? Draft or Published? What are you saving it as? Draft or Published?

Is this a new install or did you recently update to a new version? If updated did you actually click the update button?

The relationship field is not in Bloqs nor in a Grid. Published and save as Published I clicked the update button. I updated from 2.6.2 to 2.6.3 but still not working.

I’m unable to replicate this locally or on demo.boldminded.com. Relationships appear to be saving fine for me. Have you tried saving a relationship in the demo site? Feel free to change any settings necessary to match yours to see if you can replicate it. http://demo.boldminded.com.

If you can’t replicate it on demo.boldminded.com, then I’ll need you to create a new install of EE and add only Publisher to it to replicate the issue, or uninstall other add-ons 1 at a time until it starts to work again to determine if its a conflict with another add-on.

Go to your General Settings page and make sure the first 3 options are set to these values. Even if they are set to these values, re-save the settings anyway, then see if you’re still experiencing the issue.

I have found the origin of the problem: The channel where the problem occurs, is ignored in the ignore list of Publisher 2 Lite. When I remove the channel from the list of “Ignored Channels”, I can save the relationships without them getting reset.

Ok, so it sounds like something is happening here that shouldn’t. Its probably saving the relationships fine, just not loading them again correctly for display in the CP. I’ll take a look and see if there is a fix for this.

That seems to have fixed it!

Excellent. It seems I was being a little too restrictive when saving ignored channels in Publisher 2 compared to Publisher 1, so I reverted it to the same logic as Publisher 1.

BTW thanks for narrowing it down to the ignored channels setting. That helped diagnose it a lot faster.

No problem, the problem is solved, so I am happy!

Glad to help improving the addon 😊
