Ticket: Publisher completely destroys EE’s Grids in the Backend

Status Resolved

Hi Brian,

we noticed some strange behaviour with our grid fields: they are missing the handles to order them and the text-field-option suddenly shows html-tags. the ansel-image-plugin-field crumbles to only some kind of grey bar … and all this suddenly works again as normal as soon as we deactivate the publisher plugin.

attached you’ll find two screenshots that show the before and after scenario with activated and deactivated publisher.

That sounds like a JavaScript issue. Check your browsers JS console for an error.

I updated this ticket’s screenshots with the javascript errors that the console shows.

Nothing in that stack trace is coming from Publisher. How did you determine Publisher is causing the issue? Did you uninstall it and the errors went away? Did you try uninstalling other addons until the error goes away? Backup database first before uninstalling anything.

as I wrote in the original ticket text: “and all this suddenly works again as normal as soon as we deactivate the publisher plugin.”

Can you try disabling other addons as well to see if it starts working again? That error is not coming from a Publisher file, so if it’s related to Publisher I need to know what addon it’s conflicting with.

You could also search the addon theme directory for a file named Row.js

we checked this backend errors today on our different macs/pcs and browsers and by deactivating/activating. furthermore we searched for this js errors – thank you for the hint with row.js.

it seems that these errors only occur if the secondary language is choosen – in our case english. with the default language all seems fine.

the row.js comes from a file within the ansel-image-plugin. since we have some problems with bugs from this plugin anyway we will contact buzzingpixel and see what’s the case there.

Seems odd that the error only occurs when in non-default language. I’ll check with TJ to see if he may know what is happening.

Matthias, I’m confused then b/c I just don’t see how Publisher is causing this problem, and I’m unable to replicate it locally. Are you able to replicate this on demo.boldminded.com? The “Cards” channel has a Grid field you can test with.

BoldMinded (Brian)

Matthias, have you been able to replicate this on demo.boldminded.com?

Matthias, I’m going to close this issue b/c I’m unable to replicate and its been nearly a month with no response.
