dear boldminded,

we have a channel with only one entry which keeps all relevant data about our office.
the whole entry is not translateable which means the publisher-pulldown doesn’t pop up above the entry where I can choose the german/english version.

this is the entry: /cp/publish/edit/entry/122
(or EDIT > PROFIL)

Is this channel set to be ignored by Publisher? I’m confused on what the actual issue is. If its not translatable, then the Publisher menu shouldn’t be visible. Do you have Drafts disabled?

no channel is set to be ignored and “Enable Ignores” is set to “No”. we are not able to translate the entry because the publisher menu doesn’t show up. and yes, drafts are disabled.

Looks like you removed the Publisher tab from the layout? If so that would explain why the toolbar isn’t showing. That tab needs to be there. Publisher will automatically hide it.

yes, I had to hide it because when it was active our own tab for “profil” was hidden – and the publisher-tab was visible and not hidden.

is this a space-issue regarding the width? shall I write ellislab about it?

What happens if you delete the layout entirely and let everything display in the default state?

prior to writing this ticket I already tried that and deleted the layout. after creating a new layout the problem is the same.

I deleted the layout now and the publisher-tab is hidden.

This doesn’t look like an EllisLab issue. Its possibly a bug with how Publisher hides its own tab. Could be a few days before I get this sorted out.

Matthias, I’m unable to replicate this locally, and in your environment I added a “Profil” tab and added a field to it, and saved the layout. When editing the Profil entry, the Publisher tab hides itself as it should, and then the Publisher toolbar appears.

yes, this seems to be an issue and it happens if there are as many tabs as in our install.

Matthias, I still can’t replicate this issue under any circumstances, locally or in your install. As long as the Publisher tab is not set to hidden, it works fine.

I’m going to close this ticket b/c I don’t think there is a bug here.

hi brian, this seems to be an issue only with a combination of very long tab-names (which are not uncommon here in germany) and many tabs.

but: I also wasn’t able to recreate the problem on this bbw2017-install even if we still have the problem with a newer install. but I changed to tab-names there so this seems to do the magic.

thank you for your help. if this issue reoccurs I will contact you with hopefully more information on how to reproduce.
