Jul 11, 2012Hi,
Me (again)! Moving forward with the implementation of structure the next issue is that I’m not able to save publish lay-outs. Well sometimes I’am and sometimes it doesn’t function.
I’ve always understood while using Blueprints it is not necessary to select the member group in the publish lay-out anymore. In fact in BP 2.0 you now first have to deselect the selected member groups before you can select a publish-lay-out name.
After deselecting the member groups and selecting the correct publish-layout, I’m saving the lay-out. EE confirms that the lay-out has been saved. After saving the entry, closing the entry and reopening the entry again no publish lay-out is selected anymore. The changes made to the lay-out have been disappeared.
In occasional cases after the previous step has been executed, the lay-out has been saved. Strangely enough in those cases both the member groups AND the publish lay-out (name) are selected by the system. What ever I try I’ m not able to reproduce this situation as you’re normally not able to select both the member group and the publish lay-out (name).

Rob, is this a new blueprints install or upgrade from 1.x? This sounds kind of odd. would you be able to provide CP access so I can take a peak at it? If so email it to litzinger at gmail.

Brian,
I stopped using Blueprints on the previous site as we couldn’t get it to work. The problems stayed even after your 2.01 update.
So to give Blueprints a fair chance again we’ve implemented it into a new project, using: EE 2.5.2 / Structure 3.3.3 /Blueprints 2.01. A totally new and fresh installation from the ground up. Guess what same issues keep appearing with the publish layout.
Though we are able to select the (Blueprints) publish layout now. After changing the layout, saving the publish layout and saving the entry. It seems OK but after reopening the same entry or an entry in an other channel with a different publish layout all the settings are lost. And the entry, “forgot” the right Blueprints publish layout settings.
The worst thing is that at that point all the published layout settings are lost and we can start rebuilding all the lay-out’s over and over again. This is an unnecessary workload that is really putting me off.
Please dive into this issue again otherwise we have to stop using Blueprints in future projects.

Rob, can you email me CP access to the new installation? I still haven’t seen anything like this locally, so I can’t debug what I can’t see. Also, do you have autosave enabled for your channels?

Brian,
I solved the issue (still don’t know what the source is/or was though). On the fresh Expression Engine install I first installed Blueprints vs 2.0. Then I realized you have sent me an update 2.01. I uninstalled version 2.0 first, installed 2.01 thereafter and the problems appeared.
The solution.
Apparently Blueprints leaves a Sql table behind after a deinstall. So removing that table and then reinstalling the current 2.01 solved our problems.
Thanks for the support just bought an other excellent product of you today: Wyvern 😊
Rob.

Rob, I just uploaded 2.0.2. Other people had similar issues and reported 2.0.2 fixed it. If you’re still seeing issues please create a new ticket. Thanks
