May 03, 2012This is actually for the new Wyvern Video add-on that’s in the works. It looks like a fantastic extension and something that we will definitely be purchasing.
Unfortunately, we use Dailymotion to host all our video content*. At the moment, what we do is manually get the ID of the video from the URL and paste it into a text field in order to display the video on the front-end. This, as you can imagine, is a very tedious process and prone to user error.
If Dailymotion support could be added to Wyvern Video that enabled us to just select a video and automatically retrieve the title, ID, thumbnail, etc. then that would be outstanding.
Also, I wanted to know if it’s possible to allow the user to paste a URL instead of having to search for the video. Sometimes this is quicker, specially if there are multiple copies of the same video and we want to use the original one, or when we upload a video and we already know what the URL is going to be beforehand.
*Actually, we would like to use Dailymotion Cloud (their B2B solution) but until we can find an easy way to get DMCloud to speak to EE, we’re sticking with the normal Dailymotion service.

Kevin, I’ll look into this, but it might not be for a couple more weeks. Even if you paste a URL into Wyvern Video it won’t fully utilize the WV features. Searching for a video also appends all the videos attributes to the saved field, not just the URL.

Don’t know if you noticed in the latest version, but you can paste in the URL now.
I’m also going to wait on the Daily Motion support for a bit, I kind of want to focus on getting YT and Vimeo solid before I add another provider. Maybe in a 1.1 or 1.2 release I’ll start adding additional providers.
