May 02, 2012Hi Brian, great job on Wyvern Video 😊
I found a tiny bug: when you search for something that gives results on youtube and then switch to the vimeo results you get a broken image icon for a couple of seconds (in a browser that displays these images - I tested in chrome).
And then I have a feature request for you - when I used the fieldtype for the first time it felt as if something was missing. I wanted to add a video but I didn’t know what to search for .. so - a field to paste a youtube / vimeo link to use would be nice.
Bjørn
btw: I see that this form has javascript issues like most other SafeCracker forms out there 😉 http://i.imgur.com/2oNti.png

Thanks!
Yeah, I’ve noticed a couple of sporadic issues with Vimeo, its on the list to dig into it a bit more.
The search field will accept a video ID too. Are you saying you’d like to see an additional field below the search field maybe with some language like this?
[search field]
OR
Do you already know the URL? Enter it here [text field]

Oh, I didn’t see this ticket before posting mine.
A field for pasting a URL would come in very hand, yes. :D

Hmm, didn’t get a reply notification for some reason - but yes, a field for pasting URL was what I meant 😊
Often the client will find a video on YouTube they’d like to embed and then it’s easier just to copy and paste the URL into a field instead of telling them to look at the title and search for those keywords or to explain that the last part of the URL is the video ID and that they can search for this etc.

I’ve got a few ideas. Adding to the backlog and will work on some stuff for next week.

I added support for searching based on URL in version 0.8. If you entere the full URL into the search bar it will return the video and update the preview, you just have to click Ok to set it.
