I have often strange problems that some layout settings aren’t there anymore.
Because i did some updates and corrections on my site, i controlled again every blueprint layout i made.
I got some strange bugs that had to do with a wrong position of the safecracker_file, after i put it back to the third_party folder,
i had to resave every layout again and the error message disappeared. Everything went fine till today. As i tried to save one specific layout to a defined layout form, i lost all settings on the other pages.

I updated now to version 2.0.2 and was able to set it back again.
I was also able to select and deselect the checkboxes, that went wrong before and switched to a grey disabled view.

Can somebody explain what went wrong?
Because i have a lot of layout settings to different members and it would be a nightmare to setup all again.
Where are all the settings saved, so that i can backup it separately?

Thanks

Peter

Pete, do you have anything in your exp_layout_publish table? Blueprints does not have any direct interaction with that table, which is where your layouts are saved. I got a report the other day similar to this, and when logged into their CP I can see a possible bug in Blueprints, but haven’t had time to dig into it. If you provide me with CP access I can take a look and see if its the same bug. You can email it to litzinger at gmail.

I take that back Blueprints does delete layouts, but there is a confirm dialog before it happens, and its the same code thats been in place since the 1.x version. I don’t think that is the cause.

Tried to edit the Ticket settings again but i wasn’t able to save.

It seems that you have now all data to login.

Thanks for the info, but it doesn’t seem to let me login to the CP.

I updated the settings, please try again and grap the username and password again.

I logged in, while the problem isn’t identical to the other report, it appears similar… I’ll try to get it sorted out soon. Sorry for the stress this is causing.

Also, your saved layouts are fine. Blueprints just isn’t switching them properly.

So you mean i don’t loose the settings i made, but blueprints is not able to display them right now?

Maybe you can take as example “Unternehmen” there should be displayed 5 different tabs with different languages. The layout i set for this was 1:2:4 columns, but nothing change there anymore?

PeteGeller

Do you work on that? Or should i try to figure it out on my own?

Thank you

Peter

Pete, I don’t see anything wrong now that I’m looking at it. I’m able to save the Unternehmen entry and saved the publish layout to the 1:2:4 template and it loads just fine.

If you are using Blueprints to show or hide fields based on the language (because I see 5 different versions of the same fields), then you’re going to need a template for each language.

If you go to the database and look at the exp_layout_publish table you’ll see nearly all the entries have a group_id of 1, which is the Super Admin group. Publish Layouts that are recognized by Blueprints will have an ID that starts at 2000. Basically, it doesn’t look like any channels have been configured to use a custom publish layout assigned to a specific template.

If you want me to look into this more then you’ll need to provide more detailed information on exactly which entry you’re having trouble with because the Unternehmen entry looks fine.

Hmm, i compared the actual database now with an older backup of my db. It seems that there was no blueprints table before entered into the db, but i used it already???

Was there every time a blueprint table like “exp_blueprints_entries”, because the older one (month ago) there is not such a table, but as i said, i used already and it worked fine than?

Thanks

The exp_blueprints_entries table is added when you install 2.x of Blueprints. The 1.x version did not have it.

Very strange, because i used 2.0.1 and i haven’t any table like this. Anyway, i rework everything now because at the moment all my old settings aren’t there anymore. I can save a new layout, that’s right, but i’m not able to switch to my old component settings :-( I hope it will be not so often 😊

Ähm, one general question. I switched now most of the layouts back to their old settings. Normally when i saved a layout to a specific blue print form, the checkbox of that layout is always set. Now when i reload “downloads” for example the visual setting is correct to the layout 1:2:1 columns, but shouldn’t be the checkbox at the form layout checked like the super admins checkbox? The layout is definitly right.

It’s really a pain, now i have the settings running, load the layout, everything displayed right, than i save it and when i switch over to another one, layout is broken again, in the structure tab is always the correct layout, but sometimes the view is not up to date. And i really don’t overwrite it.

Now i try it again with “service”. I open the site, click the structure tab, load layout 1:2:4 columns, than it’s displayed as it should be, than i open the sidebar, “1:2:4 columns” and “Super Admins” is selected, as i think it should be, than i save the layout. If i reload the page, the view is correct. Also the checkboxes are active like it should for that view “1:2:4 columns” and “Super Admins”.

Now i switch over to “downloads”, same procedure as above. The layout is 1:2:1 columns. I load it, page is displayed correct, settings at the sidebar are 1:2:1 and Super Admins. I resave the layout. I reload the page, to check it, perfect.

Now i switch over again to Service and the page is broken and i really don’t know why????

Can you tell me what went wrong, there?

Thx

Peter

Pete, you’re site is very complicated. You have multiple fields for each language which adds to the complexity, so I’m wondering if there is really a bug, or if you are misunderstanding what Blueprints does. You also say “layout is broken again.” I don’t know what a correct and incorrect layout it supposed to look like… you haven’t attached any screenshots to assist me in debugging this.

Can you please test Blueprints in a more simple environment to see if it is working for you?

Closing this b/c it sounds like this isn’t the optimal/intended use for Blueprints. Feel free to open a new ticket once you’ve tested it in a more simple environment.
