The donation model may be broken, but required donations work

Before I started selling add-ons commercially, I sold Custom System Messages through a "donation required" model. I suggested a price of $10, but left it up to the buyer to decide how much they pay. This model works. Here are some numbers from when I sold CSM this way:
Total number of sales: 177
Largest donation: $50.00
Smallest donation: $0.01
Number of $10 donations: 92
Total average donation amount: $8.63
Total sales: $1527.56
